The Big Freeze

Over Christmas and into the New Year we had an unusual amount of snow for the south of England. As I mentioned, we have enjoyed it with walks and playing in the snow. I'm not sure these ducks we spotted just before Christmas would have been appreciating it quite as much though...


and I'm sure the birds in my in-laws' garden were pretty miffed when they discovered their bird bath frozen over...

I just made a mess and I'm CROSS

Right now I feel like clumsy Cinderella. I just spent three hours running around after two year olds, then washed up after their snack and tidied up all their toys. I did some food shopping and came home. The plan was to get a cold drink and work on some craft.

I got the drink. It was cold. I put it on the table and proceeded to knock it all over my craft stuff. I scrambled for the half finished project which was already soaking up the liquid. I said some rude words, stamped my foot and spent half an hour clearing up after myself.

It's too early to tell how ruined the project is and how much I'm going to have to re-do. I am very CROSS. At least my prince is coming home soon. Please tell me how your days are going and that you're not as CROSS as me right now...

Oh dear...

Snow

What could be more lovely than a small cottage in the countryside, a heated swimming pool, five days of holiday with my lovely husband? That was the plan - this afternoon we would drive off...to Devon. Except that Devon just happens to be the place that got about a foot of snow dumped on it last night. The only roads that go to our lovely empty cottage are closed or packed with abandoned vehicles.



At the beginning of the week the snow was great. Beautiful and fun and so exciting. But now? I am definitely over the snow.

(Although we're hoping to go tomorrow instead and once we're there I'll be back to loving the snow. What can I say? I'm fickle.)
